Option-Up Arrow: select first row Option-Down Arrow: select last row Holding shift: Option-Shift-Up Arrow: extend selection to the first row Option-Shift-Down Arrow: extend selection to the last row Note that in Finder, at least, this pressing Option-Shift-Down Arrow followed by Option-Shift-Up Arrow does not pivot the selection. Instead all the rows are selected.
